Add 5 Gigabytes of Space To Dropbox for Free

Credit for this one goes to a student of mine who passed this on to me...he was kind enough to share this amazing deal. I am not sure how long this deal will last as it relates to using a beta version of the Dropbox software

With Dropbox you get the first 2 Gigabytes free, which is just enough to get you started but not enough for any serious work as it quickly fills up. So by following a few steps forwarded to me by this super kind student, you can add another 5 gigs of space for free to your Dropbox....which would give you a grand total of 7 gigs...which is a nice healthy amount...all for free....The paid service cost a minimum $100 for 50 gigs...so these 7 gigs is a perfect amount for free...

Dropbox is a very handy little service, it syncs your files across multiple computers, so you do not have to worry as much about carrying your work around with you on a USB key. Everything is stored in the cloud and syncs down to all your computers running the Dropbox software. You can also access your files from any web browser.

Here are the instructions...

- Sign up for a Dropbox account for free if you do not already have an account

- Then visit this link and read the article and click the link to the forum post that talks about the free space....

- Follow the instructions in the forum post...and install the beta software....

- Now once installed...you just have to add some new photos....to the Dropbox folder ....I do not believe you can just copy pictures from your Pictures folder into Dropbox to get more space....instead you have to plug in a Camera or an iPhone or some other picture taking device or card with photos on it...into your computer....

For Windows, once you do this a window should pop up asking what program you wish to run....Select Dropbox and Dropbox will import the Photos into a special folder called "Camera Uploads" that it will create automatically...once you upload a single photo this way you get an instant extra 500 megabytes...then every 500 mb of photos you upload after that you get an extra 500mb of space upto 5 gigs...

- Instructions for the Mac will be slightly different but the concept is the same....

- You can upload photos from your Android or iphone or any Camera Phone....

Merge Multiple PowerPoint Presentations into one File

Below are the steps that I use to merge multiple PowerPoint presentations into one single presentation. Their are a few different ways to accomplish this task, but the steps listed below are the ones that have worked well for me in the past. Here are the steps... 1) First open up all the PowerPoint presentations that you want to merge into one show. After you have opened all your presentations you can either choose to create a new PowerPoint file or merge them into an existing file. 2) Open up any of your other presentations and select the "View" tab and select the "slide sorter" view. 3) Once in slide sorter, select the slides you wish to copy or press "Ctrl+A" to select all the slides. 4) Open the merged PowerPoint file. 5) Select where you want the new slides to go and press "Ctrl-V" to paste in the new slides. The copied slides will now be pasted into your new merged presentation, but if the slides have different templates

Here's how to setup VLC media player for Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound output through your computer's coaxial or optical digital audio output: 1) Launch VLC and click on the "Tools" menu and select "Preferences". 2) Once on the "Preferences" page select the "Audio" tab on the left hand side of the page. 3) Place a check mark next to "Enable audio" and "Use S/PDIF when available".  For the "Force detection of Dolby Surround" setting choose Auto and under the "Output" section, choose "Win32 waveOut extension output" as output type.
